“ Does a Lack of a Letter on Your Locker Mean No Future?”
Ryani Durham
By now, a majority of the seniors have their college acceptance letters posted proudly on their lockers. As I walk down the hallway, I glance at the students who seem to have their futures planned out and I think to myself “I don’t have my letter yet. Did I wait too long to apply?” I’m sure I’m not the only senior who has these worries. There are many students who don’t have letters on their lockers. They don’t seemed worried on the outside, but on the inside, they are probably completely freaking out at the possibility that they might not get into college. Not to worry, you are definitely not alone.
Arabia Mountain Senior, Brea Hill, has applied to 2 schools and luckily, was accepted to her main choice. When I asked her if she was ever worried about not getting in, she replied “ Of course I was worried. But the key to getting over that worry is to make sure you have back up schools to apply to.” I also interviewed another senior, who wishes to remain nameless, that has applied to college, but has not received a letter yet. When I asked her the same question, she replied “ I’m definitely worried. I wish I wouldn’t have waited so long because I wouldn’t be panicking now.”
Now you’re probably wondering, “what if my procrastination cost me a successful future?” Again, you really shouldn’t worry because you can be plenty successful in life even if you didn’t apply for schools early. You have other options besides college that give you the chance to be successful in life such as the military or going straight into the workforce.
